Yoga Days: Spring into Self-Care!

Roots2Rise is excited to announce a brand new partnership with Health Partners Plan (HPP). HPP is a non-profit health insurance organization that is going above and beyond when it comes to coverage for their membership of more than 272,000. HPP is committed to taking wellness programs to the next level with the launch of their newest initiative, Wellness Partners. Focusing holistically on fitness, nutrition, and an adventure driven lifestyle, they have chosen Roots2Rise to be a key partner to support Yoga Days, consisting of free monthly classes throughout Philadelphia starting this spring and running through the end of the year. After seeing the community impact of yoga in the Philadelphia Recreation Centers, HPP reached out to Roots2Rise. Not only are these once a month free classes available to members, they are free to the entire community. With the intention of creating space for self-care for everyone, this partnership is aligned with Roots2Rise’s mission to make yoga accessible to every Philadelphian as community based programming is vital to the city.

Yoga Days kicks off on April 11th at 6:30pm at DiSilvestro Playground in South Philly with a new class at a new location each month!

See below for details.

"Inspire Change, Cultivate Community"

Love is all you need. Holding space with an open heart.

by Lauren Pilgermayer

Every day, Kristie McCourt wakes up with gratitude in her heart and a true sense of love for what she gets to do and who she gets to be in the world for others. Kristie believes that oppression and violence keep us separate and isolated. Inspired by the sanskrit phrase, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, meaning "the world is one family", Kristie is committed to bringing light to the darkness by showing up for others in a way that leaves them connected, empowered, and transformed. Kristie’s commitment to community and her passion for yoga have led her to two of Roots2Rise’s programs: Martin Luther Silver Springs School and People’s Paper Co-Op. By teaching yoga and mindfulness to students who struggle with emotional and behavioral challenges and to women in re-entry, Kristie is taking a stand for others and creating a neutral space for students to show up just as they are. Kristie sees her role as being a conduit for healing and growth.

Kristie "the wolf"

Roots2Rise and Kristie both share a commitment to love, community, empowerment, and growth, and with these shared values, work to bridge the gap of separation and commit to one world, one family, one day at a time. Kristie continues to see the impact that Roots2Rise has made in the communities she supports. She genuinely loves what she does every day and will continue to make a difference in this world.

$5 Roots2Rise Yoga? How your attendance impacts your community!

 Winter Rec. Center - Germantown

Winter Rec. Center - Germantown

$5 Yoga! How does it work?  How does your attendance impact others in the city you live in?

First of all, the cost is intentionally low.  Accessibility and availability is our mission! Everyone deserves to experience the transformational aspects of this practice.  Roots2Rise believes in social change, local activism in the simplest of ways.  WE SHARE WHAT WE LOVE!  You can too.  By attending you help others!

Consider this: Your $5, pays for your class and helps to subsidize classes in underrepresented communities.  Someone is a low income area of the city, someone who doesn't have $5 to pay for class, someone who needs to pause and breathe just like you, just like me.  We want them to attend!  We want them to attend more than you know!!

When you take care of yourself, you take care of everyone! SHARE WHAT YOU LOVE!
